Why Priekule's inland location means simpler soil

Priekule lies inland in southern Kurzeme, well away from the coast or any major river - which means that on most properties we're working with typical, stable inland soil, without the moisture or sand challenges that are common in coastal towns.

The town's growth was strongly shaped by the Liepāja–Vilnius railway, built in 1871 - in the older part of town along the former rail line, older infrastructure can turn up underground, and we assess for it before any trench digging.

Close to the town lies the former Priekule airfield, whose wide, open grounds are an unusual landmark for a small inland town - on the surrounding properties we often work with larger plots of land and typical rural earthworks.

Priekule is mostly detached houses and low-rise buildings with a few small apartment blocks - the historic rail corridor and the former airfield give the town unusually spacious utility zones, and development overall is low-density, closely tied to the surrounding rural properties.

The rural surroundings typically mean longer driving distances and access roads of varying surface quality, while open farmland and forest create different wind and shade conditions from one site to the next. Seasonality here is low - the market is mainly local and active year-round, serving a local function for the inland and border municipalities of southern Kurzeme.
