Why the old town's closeness to the Alekšupīte calls for a careful approach

Kuldīga's old town, with the Alekšupīte flowing right alongside its buildings, and the Venta Rumba waterfall, form a UNESCO World Heritage site - and that closeness to water means higher ground moisture and more sensitive historic construction in and around the old town.
